Description:

2-Bromo-1-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl)ethanone is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cachexia. Cachexia is a condition characterized by loss of muscle mass and body weight due to chronic illness or injury. 2-Bromo-1-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl)ethanone has been shown to decrease insulin resistance and improve insulin sensitivity in animal models. It also inhibits virus from reproducing and causing cancer. This drug has also been found to have anti-inflammatory properties that are mediated by its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. 2-Bromo-1-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl)ethanone is used as a solvent for fluorine compounds and other aromatic hydrocarbons in organic chemistry.
