3,7-Bis[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1,5,3,7-dioxadiazocane is an organic monomer that is a fluorinated analog of the natural nucleotide orotic acid. It has been used as an electron carrier in chemical crosslinking reactions and in chromatographic analyses. 3,7-Bis[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1,5,3,7-dioxadiazocane is also involved in the biosynthesis of fatty acids and cytochromes. This compound also plays a role in depression by inhibiting the uptake of chloride ions into red blood cells.
