Description:
1,3-Bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)imidazolium tetrafluoroborate is a white solid that is insoluble in organic solvents and soluble in water. 1,3-Bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)imidazolium tetrafluoroborate can be prepared by the reaction of diethyl ether with potassium hydride and hexane with acetonitrile. It has an anionic charge and reacts with carbenes such as benzene or pentane to form a cationic complex. This compound is used as a reagent for preparative chromatography of carbenes.
