Description:
N-[3-(4-Biphenylyloxy)-3-(4-Fluorophenyl)Propyl]-N-Methylglycine is a glycine transport inhibitor that blocks the glycine transporter. It is used to study cellular physiology and has been shown to inhibit the uptake of glycine in mouse hippocampal cells. The optimum concentration for N-[3-(4-Biphenylyloxy)-3-(4-Fluorophenyl)Propyl]-N-Methylglycine is 10M, but it also inhibits signal transduction in malignant brain cells. This drug has been shown to be effective at doses of 1 nM and 10 nM in whole cell recordings from cultured mouse neurons. This drug also has a light emission effect when excited with blue light, which may be due to its inhibition of the uptake of glycine by neurons.
