3-(4-Bromo-3-fluorophenyl)-5-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one is an industrial chemical that is used for the synthesis of medicines. It is a pinacol ester and has been shown to be active against some bacteria, such as Streptococcus pyogenes. Tedizolid phosphate is a prodrug of tedizolid. It binds reversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit in bacteria, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
