N,N'-Bis(4-fluoro-3-methylphenyl)methyl]-4,6-pyrimidinedicarboxamide (BMPD) is a heterocycle with clinical relevance. Studies have shown that BMPD is able to inhibit matrix metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13), which has been shown to be involved in the progression of diabetic neuropathy. In addition, BMPD can also bind to collagen and inhibit its degradation, which may be related to its ability to prevent joint degradation in animal models. Further studies have found that BMPD can induce c-jun phosphorylation, which may be a potential mechanism for the drug's anti-inflammatory effects.
