Description:
1-Bromo-3-cyclopropylthiobenzene (1-BCT) is a brominating agent that can be used in organic synthesis. It can be used as an allylation reagent, for the conversion of sulfides to sulfoxides, and for the dehydrobromination of allyl alcohols. 1-BCT is soluble in hexane and ether, and it reacts with phenyl to give a mixture of two cyclopropanes. 1-BCT also reacts with thiols and other electrophiles, such as chloroformates and amines, to form thiocarbonyl compounds.
