N-Cbz glycine thioamide is a chiral compound that is used as an analgesic. It has the ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis and reduce inflammation. N-Cbz glycine thioamide is an analog of the amino acid glycine with an alkyl side chain substituted at the nitrogen atom. The alkylation site can be on either the pyridyl or amino group, and it can have either a pyridyl or aralkyl group attached to the aromatic ring. This compound also has anti-inflammatory properties, due to its ability to inhibit cyclooxygenase activity and reduce prostaglandin synthesis.
