Description:

(R)-3-Chloromandelic acid is an organic compound that is synthesized from the diphenylprolinol and 4-cyanopyridine. It has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer cells, to be potent against catalysed, and to have a helical structure. (R) 3-chloromandelic acid has been shown to inhibit the production of certain proteins in prostate cancer cells. The asymmetric synthesis of the molecule was first achieved using a modified Wittig reaction with 4-cyanopyridine as a chiral auxiliary. Cryo-electron microscopy revealed that the molecule had a helical structure, which may contribute to its biochemical properties.
