Product Information

Name:
2-Chloro-6-methylphenyl isocyanate
Synonyms:
  • 1-Chloro-2-isocyanato-3-methylbenzene
  • Benzene, 1-chloro-2-isocyanato-3-methyl-
Description:

2-Chloro-6-methylphenyl isocyanate (2C6MP) is a chemical compound that has been shown to have significant activity against cancer cells. 2C6MP is used for the treatment of cancer, and can be found in the wastewater produced by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The analytical method that was developed to measure 2C6MP in wastewater was sensitive enough to detect concentrations as low as 0.5 parts per billion in water samples. While this method is not specific for 2C6MP, it can also be used to detect other compounds such as sorafenib, which is a drug used to treat cancers. This method may be able to monitor the efficacy of drugs such as sorafenib, and optimize treatment regimens based on the patient’s response. It can also be used to monitor the sensitivity of cancer cells and determine their resistance or susceptibility to drugs such as 2C6MP.
