Description

L-Carnosine is a naturally occurring compound that has been shown to have antioxidant properties and inhibit the formation of reactive oxygen species. It also has been shown to protect neuronal cells from death and can be used as a treatment for muscle loss. L-Carnosine is an amino acid that acts as a buffer against the breakdown of proteins, which are important in energy metabolism. This compound also inhibits the transfer reactions in the bowel by inhibiting cyclase enzymes and may be beneficial in the treatment of bowel disease. L-Carnosine has been shown to inhibit ryanodine receptor activity, which is involved in calcium homeostasis and muscle contraction.
