2-Chlorobenzoxazole is a covalent inhibitor that forms hydrogen bonds with amines. It has been shown to inhibit the CB2 receptor, which is found in the brain, and can be used for treating inflammation. 2-Chlorobenzoxazole also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α. This drug has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity in animal models due to its ability to suppress prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes. 2-Chlorobenzoxazole is not toxic because it does not form covalent bonds with nucleophiles or heterocyclic amines.
