2-Chloro-4,6-dimethylpyridine is a fluorescent compound that can be used as a reagent in vivo and in vitro. It has been shown to bind to pyrrole and form complexes with fluorescence at room temperature. 2-Chloro-4,6-dimethylpyridine has also been shown to interact with other compounds such as plasma proteins by increasing their fluorescence yield. This ligand is structurally similar to the natural substrate of pyrrole, and it can be used for the recovery of this compound from urine samples.
