Description:
2-Chloro-6-methoxy-4-methylquinoline is an intramolecular cyclization intermediate that can be used to synthesize an analog of the anti-cancer drug Taxol. It is a precursor in the biosynthesis of pipecolic acid, which is an important intermediate for the synthesis of quinine and largazole. 2-Chloro-6-methoxy-4-methylquinoline may also be used as a biosynthetic intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds, such as deoxygenation agents, antibiotics, and natural products. This compound has been shown to undergo intramolecular cyclization with a variety of electron acceptors, including carboxylic acids, aromatic amines, and nitroalkanes.
