Product Information
- Pyrimidine, 2-chloro-4-methyl-
- 2-Chloro-6-methylpyrimidine
2-Chloro-4-methylpyrimidine is a chlorine-containing compound that is synthesized from 2,4-dichloropyrimidine and formaldehyde. It has been shown to have anticancer activity in tumor cell lines. This drug also has the ability to inhibit the biosynthesis of DNA by inhibiting topoisomerase II and interfering with the amide bond between the N7 atom of guanine and the C4 atom of cytosine. 2-Chloro-4-methylpyrimidine can also be used to prepare other compounds that are involved in cancer prevention or treatment.
