Description:5-Chloro-2,2-difluoro-1,3-benzodioxole (5CFD) is an antifungal agent that is used to treat bowel disease. It inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA by binding to the enzyme RNA polymerase. 5CFD is also used as a precursor for diazonium salt analogs, which are used in antibacterial agents. The analogs are synthesized using deuterated 5CFD. This drug has been shown to have antitumor activity against human cervical carcinoma cells in culture.
