Description

1-Chloro-1,2-dibromo-1,2,2-trifluoroethane (CDFTE) is a polyvalent organic chemical that can be used as a solvent for metal halide salts. It has been detected in the environment due to its use in the manufacturing of CFCs and aliphatic hydrocarbons. CDFTE is also used in the production of fluorine compounds. This chemical can be prepared by electrolysis of chloroform with an aqueous solution of sodium chloride. The 1H NMR spectra of CDFTE show that it contains both aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
