1-(3-Chloropropoxy)-4-fluorobenzene is a halogenated phenyl derivative. It has been shown to have high affinity for the 5-HT2A receptor, and it is an antipsychotic agent. The binding of 1-(3-chloropropoxy)-4-fluorobenzene to the receptor leads to an increase in the concentration of dopamine and chloride ions, which inhibits neuronal firing. Clozapine, another antipsychotic drug, has also been shown to bind to this receptor. In vivo animal studies have demonstrated that 1-(3-chloropropoxy)-4-fluorobenzene inhibits dopamine release by antagonizing the 5HT2A receptors.
