Description:
Propylphosphonic acid (PPAA) is a novel prodrug that was designed to be activated by cytochrome P450 enzymes. The activation of PPAA is mediated by cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4), which results in the conversion of PPAA to phosphonic acid (PPA). PPAA has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of histone deacetylases, which are proteins that regulate gene transcription. PPAA has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
