Product Information
- 3-Chloro-2,2,3,3-Tetrafluoropropanoyl Chloride
3-Chlorotetrafluoropropionyl chloride (3-CTFP) is a chlorinating agent that is used as an intermediate in the production of fluorinated organic compounds. 3-CTFP reacts with water to produce hydrochloric acid and hydrogen chloride gas. This reaction is considered to be a corrosion process. The product of this reaction, hydrochloric acid, is used to make photographic film and other chemicals such as polyvinyl chloride. 3-CTFP can be found in acrylic acid, which is used for producing polyacrylic acid, nitrocellulose, and cellulose acetate butyrate. 3-CTFP can also be found in products that are made from these products such as paints and coatings. 3-CTFP has been shown to have fluoride ion trackability and can be measured by using an ion chromatograph with fluoride selective detection.
