Name:
Cevipabulin
Synonyms:
  • 5-Chloro-6-[2,6-difluoro-4-[3-(methylamino)propoxy]phenyl]-N-((1S)-2,2,2-trifluoro-1-methylethyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7-amine
Description:

Cevipabulin is a drug that belongs to the class of antimicrobial agents. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi in vitro. Cevipabulin is also effective against multidrug-resistant bacteria, such as Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This drug binds to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA by preventing the formation of supercoiled DNA. Cevipabulin inhibits replication, transcription, and translation by binding to these enzymes. The structure of cevipabulin was determined by X-ray crystallography studies, which revealed a hydroxyl group at position 4’, which may be important for its antibacterial activity. Cevipabulin has also been shown to induce axonal growth in rats with spinal cord injury when applied topically. This drug also provides a model system for studying degenerative diseases
