The synthesis of 2-chloro-6-fluorophenyl)boronic acid is a regioselective synthesis that starts with the reaction of benzene and pinacol. Substituents such as chlorine, bromine, fluorine, or iodine are introduced to the phenyl group at position 2 to give compounds with different properties. The Australian National University has developed a novel method for synthesizing this compound by lithiation and then reacting it with an electrophile. This sequence of steps allows for the formation of (2-chloro-6-fluorophenyl)boronic acid in high yields.
