4-Chloro-2,5-difluorobenzoic acid is an antibacterial agent that can be synthesized by diazotizing 4-chloro-2,5-difluoroaniline with sodium nitrite in the presence of a copper electrode. It can also be made as a natural dye from the roots of Althaea officinalis. 4-Chloro-2,5-difluorobenzoic acid has been used as a reagent to make other substances such as chlorothionamides and benzoxazinones. This chemical is also an efficient sensitizer for photochemical reactions and can be used in solar cells.
