Product Information
2-Chloro-3-nitro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid (Btz169) is a synthetic molecule with a carboxamide group and two nitro groups. The compound has been shown to be an inhibitor of the enzyme cytochrome P450, which is involved in the metabolism of many drugs. Btz169 has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics, such as methicillin and erythromycin. 2-Chloro-3-nitro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase, preventing transcription and replication. This active form is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic
