Product Information
- Benzaldehyde, 5-Chloro-2-Ethoxy-
5-Chloro-2-ethoxybenzaldehyde is a natural product that has been shown to inhibit HIV infection in cell cultures. It was found to have a dose-dependent effect on the replication of HIV-1 and also showed a synergistic effect with other anti-HIV drugs. 5-Chloro-2-ethoxybenzaldehyde is a flavonoid compound and can be extracted from plant sources such as chalcones, which are found in the roots of plants such as clove. The anti-HIV activity of this compound has been attributed to its ability to inhibit the enzyme host cell factor C (HCFC) which is required for viral protein synthesis.
