Description:

2-Cyclohexenyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane is an organometallic compound with the formula (CH)CH(BH)(CO)O. It is a colorless liquid that has been used in synthetic organic chemistry as an oxidant and transmetallation agent. It undergoes reductive elimination to give the corresponding aldehyde and alcohol. The reaction of 2-cyclohexenyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane with amides leads to transmetallation reactions with alkylating agents such as phosphines or methyl iodide. This synthesis takes place at room temperature and proceeds via competitive catalysis by copper salts or copper complexes.
