Product Information
- acetamide, 2-chloro-N-(2,5-dichlorophenyl)-
2-Chloro-N-(2,5-dichlorophenyl)acetamide (2CDA) is a chlorinated derivative of acetamide. It has a side chain that is ortho to the chlorine atom and crystallizes in the conformation where the hydrogen bonds are directed toward nitrogen. 2CDA has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by interfering with protein synthesis. The amide group of 2CDA reacts with amino acids to form covalent bonds, which disrupts the enzyme's active site and prevents the conversion of amino acids into proteins.
