Description

2-Chloro-N-pyrazin-2-ylacetamide is a novel antioxidant that is effective as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent. It has been shown to scavenge radicals in vitro, including hydroxyl radicals and peroxyl radicals. 2-Chloro-N-pyrazin-2-ylacetamide also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNFα, IL1β, IL6, and IL8. This compound also has the ability to inhibit phospholipase A2 enzyme activity in vitro. 2-Chloro-N-pyrazin-2y acetamide is also a potent antioxidant that exhibits higher antioxidant activity than vitamin C or alpha lipoic acid, with no toxicity observed in vivo.
