Description:

Cyclopropyl acetic acid is a sesquiterpene lactone that belongs to the group of heterocyclic compounds. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. Cyclopropyl acetic acid acts as a mast cell stabilizer, inhibiting the release of histamine from mast cells and decreasing the activity of leukocytes involved in inflammatory processes. This agent also inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in inflammatory reactions. Cyclopropyl acetic acid is metabolized into cyclopropane fatty acids that inhibit the production of lipids in liver cells and bowel cells. Cyclopropyl acetic acid has been found to be effective against fatty liver disease and bowel disease, such as Crohn's disease. Cyclopropyl acetic acid also binds to lysine residues on proteins and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to an increased rate of protein degradation by proteases.
