2-Chloro-N-methylisonicotinamide is a fungicide that inhibits pyricularia, a plant disease. It is an inhibitor of plant lipoxygenase and peroxidase, which are enzymes that produce lipid hydroperoxides in plants. This compound has also been shown to be an activator of abscisic acid synthesis in leaves and has antifungal activity. 2-Chloro-N-methylisonicotinamide may have potential as a lead compound for the development of new fungicides.
