4-Chloro-1,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole is a pyrazole derivative that has been shown to be an efficient alkylating agent. 4-Chloro-1,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole can be synthesized by chlorination of the corresponding nitro compound followed by reduction of the intermediate nitrosochloride. The electrochemical reduction of 4-chloro-1,5-dimethylpyrazole and other related compounds in aqueous solutions has been demonstrated. This compound has also been used to prepare other substituted pyrazoles.
