Product Information
Nizatidine is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist that inhibits the secretion of stomach acid. The synthesis of Nizatidine begins with the reaction of acetonitrile and 2-chloromethyl-4-(chloromethyl)-1,3-thiazole in solution at a temperature between 65°C and 75°C. The cyclohexane is then added to the salt solution and the reaction vessel is sealed. The synthesis is completed by dehydrating the reaction mixture, which can be done by adding stannous chloride to remove water from the mixture. The final product can then be recrystallized by adding triethylamine and stannous chloride to the salt solution.
