Product Information

Name:
Cyclobutanecarbohydrazide
Synonyms:
  • Cyclobutanecarboxylic Acid, Hydrazide
Description:

Cyclobutanecarbohydrazide (CBZ) is an inhibitor of soluble guanylate cyclase. It has been shown to possess a potent inhibitory activity against the receptor for insulin and other hormones, which may be due to its ability to bind to the hydroxyl group on the receptor. This binding prevents insulin from binding and activating the receptor, leading to decreased insulin sensitivity. CBZ also inhibits the hydrolysis of triglycerides in adipose tissue, leading to elevated levels of serum triglycerides. This inhibition is thought to be related in part with its hypoglycemic effect. CBZ has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting leukocyte migration and adhesion, as well as through inhibition of cytokine production and gene transcription.
