1-[4-(Chloromethyl)phenyl]pyrrolidin-2-one is a needle lubricant that has been shown to increase the polymerization rate of polystyrene and poly(methyl methacrylate) in the presence of an initiator. It also exhibits high lubricity when used as a surface modifier on metals. 1-[4-(Chloromethyl)phenyl]pyrrolidin-2-one can be used as an initiator for free radical polymerization and as a modifying agent for metal surfaces.
