Product Information
- 2-cyano-N-(2-furylmethyl)acetamide
- acetamide, 2-cyano-N-(2-furanylmethyl)-
- N1-(2-furylmethyl)-2-cyanoacetamide
2-Cyano-N-(2-furylmethyl)acetamide is a cytotoxic agent that has shown anticancer activity and leukemia cell lines. It inhibits the growth of leukemia cells by binding to their DNA chains, forming an acetamide adduct that disrupts DNA synthesis. 2-Cyano-N-(2-furylmethyl)acetamide is an ester that reacts with nucleophiles such as glutathione and thiols, which are present in high concentrations in cancer cells. This chemical also binds to the oxygen atom of a carbonyl group, forming a new bond between the two atoms. The resulting molecule is called a cyanoacyl or cyanate ester, which can be used as a reactive intermediate in organic synthesis.
