- Acetamide, 2-cyano-N-(2-fluorophenyl)-
2-Cyano-N-(2-fluorophenyl)acetamide is a new antiviral agent that has been shown to be effective in inhibiting HIV protease, human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), and hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is a novel allosteric inhibitor of HIV protease that binds to the active site of the enzyme. This compound has an IC50 value in the nanomolar range and it was shown to be more potent than other compounds with similar chemical structures. 2-Cyano-N-(2-fluorophenyl)acetamide also inhibits HCV NS3 protease, but its activity against HCV NS4A protein is low. In addition, this compound does not inhibit the replication of retroviruses such as HIV or HTLV.
