2-Cyano-N-(4-methylphenyl)acetamide (2CNA) is an alkylating agent used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. 2CNA has been used to evaluate its cytotoxicity against cancer cells. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit herpes simplex virus replication and to inhibit cell growth in fibroblast cells. It has also been shown to have a potent anticancer effect on colon cancer cells by inhibiting protein synthesis. 2CNA is a compound that may be synthesized from iminium salts and ammonia.
