1-(4-Chloro-3-nitrophenyl)-2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-1H-beta-carboline hydrochloride (also known as metocarbamol) is a muscle relaxant that is used to treat muscle spasms. It may also be used to relieve pain and stiffness in the muscles. Metocarbamol has been shown to have sedative and anticonvulsant effects.
