2-(4-Chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropanoyl chloride is a cephalosporin antibiotic that is structurally similar to pyridine, dipyridamole, and other analogues. 2-(4-Chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropanoyl chloride has an equimolar sodium salt form with a pKa of 7.8. It has a structural formula of CHClNO and a molecular weight of 170.06 g/mol. This drug can be used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. 2-(4-Chlorophenoxy)-2-methylpropanoyl chloride binds to the acceptor site in the bacterial cell wall by competitive inhibition, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. It also inhibits the growth of gram-positive bacteria at temperatures below 25°C, but is not active against gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli or Pseudomonas aerug
