2-Chloro-N-phenylpyrimidin-4-amine is a potent and selective antagonist of the chemokine receptor CXCR2. It has been shown to inhibit the expression of this receptor in human cell lines, thereby inhibiting the metastatic cancer process. In addition, 2-chloro-N-phenylpyrimidin-4-amine has antimycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Studies have shown that 2-chloro-N-phenylpyrimidin 4 amine was able to decrease the number of bacteria in infected mice by 85%. The pharmacophore model for this compound is stepwise, as it binds to the receptor with two hydrogen bonds. The skeleton of 2 chloro N phenyl pyrimidin 4 amine is a bicyclic pyridine derivative and its pharmacophore model is based on an aromatic ring system.
