Description:
2-Cyclopropylbutan-2-ol is a long chain alcohol that is used as a pheromone in the marking of territory by conspecifics. This substance has been shown to be effective in eluting metal salts from silica gel and attacks nucleophilic substrates, such as hydrochloric acid. 2-Cyclopropylbutan-2-ol can also be synthesized from a ketone with an ammonium salt. The compound has been used for labeling, high yield, and chromatographic assays.
