Description:

1-(3-Chloro-2-methylphenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione is an initiator for the polymerization of vinyl monomers. It is a red solid that has a melting point of about 217°C. 1-(3-Chloro-2-methylphenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione can be used to produce polymers with varying degrees of stiffness and hardness. These polymers are useful in many applications such as coatings, adhesives, sealants, composites, and elastomers. The efficiency of this initiator has been shown by copolymerizing it with styrene and methyl methacrylate to form copolymers with a wide range of molecular weights and transition temperatures. This initiator also produces high molecular weight polymers when copolymerized with acrylonitrile.
