Description:
2-Cyclopropyl-1H-benzimidazole is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have neurotoxic effects in animals. It is an inhibitor of nerve growth factor and has been shown to cause degeneration of nerve cells. 2-Cyclopropyl-1H-benzimidazole is also a reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase, which may be the mechanism for its neurotoxic effects. This compound can be made from cyclopropanecarboxylic acid and piperazine, which are commercially available chemicals.
