Description

3-Chloro-N-(3-methoxyphenyl)propanamide is an alkylating agent that is used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. This compound reacts with a wide range of organic compounds to form adducts. It is also used as a solvent, and in the production of other chemicals such as potassium carbonate and dihydroacetone. 3-Chloro-N-(3-methoxyphenyl)propanamide can be obtained via the transfer reaction of chloride ions and formamide, which are contacted with aluminium or carbostyril to form the desired product. This chemical has been used as a neuroleptic, and has been shown to cause Parkinsonism in rats.
