Description

2-Chloro-N-{4-[(pyrimidin-2-ylamino)sulfonyl]phenyl}acetamide is a synthetic chemotherapeutic agent that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by blocking the synthesis of DNA. The drug blocks the enzyme topoisomerase II, which is necessary for DNA replication and repair. 2-Chloro-N-{4-[(pyrimidin-2-ylamino)sulfonyl]phenyl}acetamide binds to DNA and prevents its separation, leading to cell death. This drug also has antiplatelet activity, which may be due to its ability to reduce platelet aggregation or inhibit arachidonate metabolism in platelets.
