2-Amino-2-(chloroacetyl)benzoic acid (ACABA) is a drug that inhibits glutamate pyruvate transaminase, an enzyme involved in the conversion of pyruvate to oxaloacetate. It is used to treat prostate cancer cells that are resistant to hormone therapy. ACABA has been shown to inhibit cell growth by inhibiting the production of glutamate and cycle analysis of glutamine and glutamate metabolism. The molecular modeling studies suggest that ACABA inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to amines in the cell membrane and preventing chloride ions from entering the cell. This drug also interacts with quinoline derivatives, which are important for cellular signaling, and prevents their activation through hydrolysis. The safety profile of this drug is similar to that of carbamazepine, which is used as an anti-seizure medication.
