- 4-Cyanobenzenesulphonyl chloride
4-Cyanobenzenesulfonyl chloride is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of mesomeric compounds. It has been shown to react with amines and inorganic acids, such as phosphorus pentachloride and hydrochloric acid, respectively. This reaction produces a chlorosulfonic acid derivative that can be cleaved by water in the presence of an oxidizing agent, such as hydrogen peroxide or potassium dichromate, yielding a β-unsaturated ketone. The β-unsaturated ketone then reacts with an amine to form an α-amino nitrile. 4-Cyanobenzenesulfonyl chloride does not produce any bioactive molecules but it is used for synthesizing them. The synthesis is initiated by reacting the mesomeric compound with an amine and inorganic acid, which are used as linkers to produce bioactive molecules. 4-Cyanobenzenesulfonyl chloride also reacts
