Product Information

Name:
1-Chloro-N,N-dimethylmethanesulfonamide
Synonyms:
  • methanesulfonamide
  • 1-chloro-N,N-dimethyl-
Description:

1-Chloro-N,N-dimethylmethanesulfonamide is a low temperature nucleophile that reacts with porphyrins to form the corresponding sulfones. The nucleophilicity of 1-chloro-N,N-dimethylmethanesulfonamide is due to the electron withdrawing group in the molecule. It can also react with 8-nitroquinoline to form a porphyrin. This reaction proceeds by way of an S N 2 mechanism and results in resonance stabilization of the carbanionic intermediate.
