Product Information
2-(4-chloroanilino)benzoic acid (2CBA) is a benzene derivative that is used to identify the presence of calcium in cells. It blocks repetitive firing of neurons by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels. 2CBA has been shown to inhibit the activity of certain enzymes, including anthranilic acid amidohydrolase and methylaminopropylcarboxypeptidase. In addition, 2CBA has been found to be a blocker for Ca2+ ionophores, which are agents that bind to and release Ca2+ from intracellular stores. This compound also inhibits the fluorescence of trifluoromethyl groups, making it a useful test compound in screening assays for inhibitors of protein synthesis.
