Chloro[(S)-(-)-2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl](p-cymene)ruthenium(II) chloride is a chiral ruthenium complex that is used as a catalyst for hydrogenations. The complex has been shown to catalyze the hydrogenation of various alcohols and amines with high activity. Chloro[(S)-(-)-2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl](p-cymene)ruthenium(II) chloride also has optical properties that can be used in stereoselective reactions. This complex can be immobilized on various substrates such as polystyrene beads or silica gel particles for use in kinetic studies.
